Cortijo El Naranjal - A Real Holiday

Enjoy a taste of Hidden Spain, relax and refresh yourself in this tranquil Andalucian mountain hideaway.

Cortijo el Naranjal translates as - The Farmhouse in the Orange Grove - which is based between Sedella and Salares in the foothills on the stunning Maroma mountain range in the Axarquia region of Andalucia in Southern Spain.

The Cortijo nestles in a river valley with over a hundred orange, lemon and other fruit trees, also extensive organic vegetable gardens which serve our kitchens. There are dip pools in the mountain spring fed river and many pretty walks leading directly from the grounds through Olive and Almond groves with magnificent views of Mount Maroma (2008 Metres) and the surrounding natural park.

In Spring the pathways are a profusion of orchids, together with many other wild flowers and mountain herbs.

Within the vicinity there are many sleepy pueblos with bars and restaurants. Making this a superb area for walking, painting and photography or just relaxing by the pool.


We are only 1 hour East From Malaga Airport in Axarquia and 2 and a half hours from Granada. With many good beaches only half an hour away. The nearest Pueblo is a mere 20 minute stroll and the cosmopolitan village of Competa is a 20 minute drive where you will find a wealth of shops selling local produce such as honey, olive oil, figs, good local wines, arts and handcrafts. There are also many excellent bars and restaurants where local tapas and seafood can be sampled.

At Orange Grove we aim to offer a high standard of comfort in a relaxed, friendly and informal atmosphere.

You can rentout the entire Orange Grove from just 135 Euros per week (based on 4 sharing in low season).

There are 2 fully equipped studio apartments which sleep 2 in double or twin accommodation with their own terraces. Two large double rooms with en-suite withfridge, tea and coffee making facilities.

Where Are We
And What Do We Offer?

The Orange Grove (pictured below) is set in the mountains on the edge of a small village called Sedella which is in the axarquia region of Andalucia - just 1 hour from Malaga airport, despite being a beautifully remote location it's just 15 minutes walk away from the nearest village shop in Sedella - At The Orange Grove we offer various options (see options 1-3 on left panel for current deals).

Guests have full use of the grounds, including swimming pool, terraces and river dip pools. There are many areas to sit by the river or in the orange groves where guests can enjoy a quiet moment and where only the birds or the sound of a distant goat bell will disturb your reverie.

In the main house there is a use of a TV/Video and an extensive Video and Book library for guest use.

Your hostess Kritzlynn has been for some years a Mountain Walking Guide in the area and is very knowledgable on the history of the Moorish Rule in Spain. She also has extensive knowldge of the City of Granada and the Alhambra Palaces so you may wish to join her on a day trip.

Due to the location of the Orange Grove it is advisable to hire a car to enable you to explore the beautiful surrounding areas that the Axarquia region has to offer.
